Microsoft emPOWER Pack Incubator

Microsoft SA and the Joburg Centre for Software Engineering (JCSE) gave combined their resources to create the emPOWER Pack incubator programme for software entrepreneurs in the financial services, health, mining and government sectors. This pack of software, services and skills development opportunities provides each incubator company with an environment in which to develop its existing software project for 1 year in a technologically superior laboratory.


As an emPOWER Pack Incubator company, what benefits will I get?
  1. Microsoft Partner Action Pack (Developer tools and a wide range of software)
  2. Workshop with a Microsoft Platform Strategy Advisor
  3. Workshop with a Microsoft Developer Advisor
  4. Ongoing mentorship from the Microsoft Developer Advisor and Platform Advisor
  5. Access to Microsoft Official Curriculum
  6. Free Individual JCSE Partnership for each developer in company (i.e. 1000 JCSE points) giving access to all of the JCSE skills development programmes and resources
  7. Additional 500 JCSE Points per month for the company
  8. Access to JCSE's Expert Panel (fee in "Points" will be levied).
Do I qualify?

Companies must satisfy the following criteria to be available for selection:

  1. Must have a working prototype of a software application
  2. This application must provide a business solution in the financial services, health, mining or government sectors
  3. Must have a business plan describing how a viable business can be set up around this prototype application
  4. Must have suffucient resouces available to pay a low monthly rent and cover expenses for at least 1 year.
What is the screening process?
  1. A screening panel from the JCSE and Microsoft SA will review all aplications and prepare a short-list
  2. Short-listed applicants will present proposals to a selection committee including potential investors from relevant sectors.
  3. 5 successful applicants will be selected
  4. Agreements will be signed
