Applied Research

JCSE’s Applied Research Unit carries out research projects related to the status, growth and development of the African Digital Economy.  Over the past 10 years the Unit has carried out an annual Skills Survey and has undertaken bespoke research projects covering topics such as cloud computing, SMME values chains in the ICT sector, the history of the Internet in SA, and others.  Research is sometimes carried out in partnership with other Wits University departments and centres.

2018 JCSE-IITPSA ICT Skills Survey

Are you an employer of ICT skills? Are you a practitioner of ICT skills? If you work in the
information & communications technology field, from student to CIO, from hacker to
enterprise architect, we need your help! No matter what industry or sector you manage, if
you employ or contract with people who have ICT skills, we need your help!
The JCSE has partnered with the IITPSA to carry out the 9 th ICT Skills Survey and we
cannot do it without you. We need to gather the latest information from you on how skills are
acquired, how skills are practiced and how skills evolve in South Africa’s ICT environment.
Please support our survey by completing either or both questionnaires that you will find at
our Survey Centre web site – https://goo.gl/FY8ERT – where you can select the appropriate
survey after a simple registration process. All information will be held confidentially and used
only for this research survey.
Please click on the link above and give us a few minutes of your valuable time for this
important research. Even if you have responded to earlier editions, we need your input again
so that we can track trends and identify new issues.
